Unemployment rate at 3.9% in July

In July 2021, the number of unemployed people in Hungary amounted to 189,000 while the unemployment rate stood at 3.9%, according to data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

In the May-July 2021 period, the average number of unemployed persons was 197,000 and the unemployment rate was 4.1%.

The number of unemployed persons aged 15-74 decreased by 27,000 and their unemployment rate by 0.6 percentage points in May-July compared to the same period of 2020. Among men, the number of unemployed persons was 103,000 and the unemployment rate decreased by 0.6 percentage points to 4%, while among women, the number of unemployed persons decreased to 94,000 and the unemployment rate decreased by 0.6 percentage points to 4.2%.

According to the administrative data of the National Employment Service (https://nfsz.munka.hu/), the number of registered jobseekers decreased by 28.4% to 262,000 at the end of July.
