Slovenia Inflation Rate Rises in August

Slovenia's inflation rate rose to 6.2% year-on-year in August, up from 6.1% in the previous month, figures from the Ljubljana-based Statistics Bureau of Slovenia (SURS) on Thursday show.

On a yearly basis, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 10.4%, while the same for alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 8.8%.

Prices for clothing and footwear grew by 6.6% and costs for housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels added 2%.

Additionally, prices for health went up by 11.0% and prices for recreation and culture, restaurants, and hotels advanced 8.7%, respectively. Prices for miscellaneous goods and services also increased by 7.3%.

On the other hand, transport cost decreased 0.6%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1%, following a 0.2% increase in July.
