Slovakia inflation surges in September

Slovakia's consumer price inflation accelerated in September, figures from the Bratislava-based Statistical Office (SÚSR) showed on Thursday.
The consumer price index (CPI) rose 4.6% year-on-year in September, following a 3.8% rise in August.
Transport costs increased 11.6% yearly in September and alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices rose by 4.2%. Prices for communication, and recreation and culture grew by 6.6% and 4.3%, respectively.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.8% in September, following a 0.4% gain in the previous month.
The core inflation rose to 4.9% in September from 4.5% a year ago.
On month, core CPI rose 0.3% in September, after a 0.4% increase in the prior month.
