Slovakia inflation surges in October

Slovakia's consumer price inflation rose 5.1% year-on-year in October, following a 4.6% rise in September, figures from the Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR) showed on Friday.
Transport cost increased 14.0% yearly in October and alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices rose by 8%. Prices for communication, and recreation and culture grew by 6.4% and 4.9%, respectively.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.6% in October, after a 0.8% gain in the previous month. The core inflation rose to 4.9% in September from 5.5% in October.
On a month-on-month comparison basis, core CPI rose 0.7% in October, after a 0.3% increase in the prior month.
