Slovakia HICP rises in January

Slovakia's EU harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) increased 7.7% year-on-year in January, following a 5.1% growth in December, the Bratislava-based Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR) said in a statement Wednesday.
On a month-on-month basis, the HICP increased 2.8% in January, following a 0.2% rise in the preceding month.
Earlier, the statistical office reported that the consumer price index (CPI) rose 8.4% yearly in January and grew 2.7% from a month ago.
The core inflation rose to 7.1% in January from 6.4% in the prior month.
