The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, increased 10.9% year-on-year in April, following a 9.6% rise in March.

On a month-on-month basis, the HICP rose 1.4% in March, after a 1.7% growth in the preceding month.

Earlier, the statistical office reported that the consumer price index rose 11.8% yearly in April and gained 1.5% from a month ago.

The core inflation rose to 11.1% in April from 9.5% in the prior month.
