Romanian wages and salaries increase in June

The average net salary in Romania reached RON 3,541 (some EUR 700) in June, increasing by 7.4% compared to the same month last year, and by 1.4% compared to the previous month, according to figures released by the Bucharest-based National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In real terms, deflated for inflation, it increased by 3.3% year-on-year and by 1.1% month-on-month.
The average gross earning in June was RON 5,779, which is 1.5% higher compared to the prior month. The highest wages paid in the IT sector, with an average of RON 8,439 (EUR 1,718), while the lowest wages recorded in the hotels and restaurants businesses, where the national average is RON 1,926 (EUR 392).
