Romanian jobless rate inches down in April

Romania's unemployment rate fell to 5.7% in April, from a revised 5.8% in the previous month, the Bucharest-based National Institute of Statistics (INS) said on Monday, citing provisional data.

On an annual comparison basis, the country's jobless rate was 0.4 percentage point higher in April 2021.

There were 474,000 unemployed people in April, down from 485,000 in March. The jobless rate among women was 5.4% versus 6% among men.

The unemployment rate among adults aged between 25 and 74 was estimated at 4.6%. The percentage of unemployed people aged between 25 and 74 in the total number of unemployed was 75.4%.
