The real disposable income per person in an average household in 2022 fell by 2.6%, mainly due to inflation, figures released by the Warsaw-based Central Statistical Office (GUS) showed.
According to GUS, income per person amounted to PLN 2,250 (appr. EUR 500) in 2022 and was higher by 11.4% compared to the prior year, wrote Money.pl.
However, the average inflation amounted to 14.4%, meaning that the real incomes are falling.
The latest data from the statistics agency also shows another trend. In the previous decade, expenses "eat up" a smaller and smaller part of Poles' income year after year, but since 2021, this has reversed and the share of expenses in income is increasing.
