Public procurement contract value climbs 29% in 2021

The value of public procurements in Hungary rose 29% year-on-year in 2021, news agency MTI writes, citing a report by the Public Procurement Authority.
The number of public procurement procedures was up by around 200.
Microbusinesses and SMEs won more than 85% of the contracts in terms of numbers and the value of these contracts reached HUF 2.5 trillion.
The Public Procurement Authority initiated over 20% more audits of the performance and amendment of the contracts resulting from public procurement procedures than a year earlier.
The authority initiated legal proceedings in 123 cases against 132 organizations last year and the Public Procurement Arbitration Committee levied fines of more than HUF 1.1 billion.
