Poland inflation increases in May

Poland's consumer price index (CPI) rose 4.7% year-on-year in May, following a 4.3% increase in April, final data from the Warsaw-based Central Statistical Office (GUS) showed on Tuesday.

In the initial estimate, inflation was 4.8%. Transport cost increased 19.5% yearly in May. Prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, and communication rose by 6.6% and 6%, respectively.

On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose 0.3% in May, following a 0.8% increase in the prior month, as estimated.
