Number of unemployed in Serbia hits 15-year low in 2020

The number of unemployed people in Serbia in 2020, a year marked by the coronavirus pandemic, was 509,179, the lowest since 2005, according to figures released by the National Employment Service, news agency Tanjug reports.

Also, only 32,429 people were receiving unemployment benefits last year, and the number was down by around 3,000 compared to 2019.

According to the report, the total number of newly-registered unemployed people - 27,637 -, was also the lowest in 15 years.
