New Enrollment at Hungarian Unis Climbs

Hungarian universities enrolled 106,691 new students in the fall semester, 33% more than a year earlier, the Culture and Innovation Ministry said on Friday, citing updated data from the Office of Education, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Around 80% of newly enrolled students are studying on scholarship, the ministry said.

The state pays about HUF 6 million per student for a full course of study, it added.

Total enrollment at Hungarian universities and colleges stands at 310,414, a nine-year record.
