Net FDI Into Bulgaria Shrinks in Jan-Aug

The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria totaled EUR 1.06 billion in the first eight months of 2022, down 2.8% year-on-year, the central bank said on Wednesday.
The net FDI inflow from January through August, calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 1.3% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) projected for 2022, the bank said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
In a separate statement the bank said, Bulgaria's current account surplus widened to EUR 560 million in August from EUR 256.4 million in the corresponding month of the previous year.
