N. Macedonia jobless rate continues to drop in Q1

The unemployment rate in North Macedonia dropped to 16% in the first quarter of 2021 from 16.2% in the same period of the previous year, data released by the Skopje-based State Statistical Office (Makstat) show.
It was the third consecutive decline in jobless rate to its lowest level since the series began in 2004.
The number of unemployed persons decreased by 5.800 to 150,000, while the number of employed fell by 17.900 to 793,000. Therefore, the activity rate edged down to 56.0% from 57.4% a year earlier, and the employment rate slowed down to 47.1% from 48.1%.
