Montenegrin jobless rate falls in May

Montenegro's unemployment rate went down to 20.51% at the end of May from 21.79% recorded in the previous month, data by the country's Employment Agency showed reported news portal SeeNews.

In the same month last year, the unemployment rate stood at 23.99%. In May this year, the number of unemployed persons went down 14.5% on the month to 47,584.

Data released by the Montenegrin Statistical Office (Monstat) on Thursday show, that unemployment rose to 16.8%, or 47.300 people in the first quarter of 2022, up by 2.9% compared to the Q1 last year and up by 12.9% from the fourth quarter last year.

Meanwhile, the number of employments increased to 234,500 persons in the first quarter of 2022, up 22% compared to Q1 last year and up 1.6% quarter-on-quarter.
