Insurers paid out or set aside HUF 1 billion for claim payments in May, the first month of the traditional storm season, and the companies received more than 12,000 notifications, the Association of Hungarian Insurers (Mabisz) reported yesterday, according to profitline.hu.

The organization explained that May was relatively quiet this year, while last year it had been a busy month from the point of view of home insurance, when HUF 2.4 billion in claims were paid out, and around 18,000 claim reports were received.

This year, the rain in May was not accompanied by wind storms of similar strength to 2022, but severe damage was still caused in a small area.
