Hungary's Central Statistical Office (KSH) this week announced the completion of the 2022 census in a release on its website.

KSH said 9.2 million residents, around 96% of the population, living in 4.6 million households participated in the census.

People could fill out the census questionnaire independently, online, on October 1-19, and enumerators also collected data during a follow-up period on November 21-28.

Around seven million people from 3.2 million households filled in the questionnaire during the initial phase, a ratio KSH said was "outstanding in international comparison."

The data collected in the census will now be processed. The first results will be available from Q1 2023, but KSH will not publish detailed data until the fall of next year.
