Full-time foreign enrollment at Hungarian unis doubles in 10 years

Enrollment of foreign nationals as full-time students at Hungarian institutions of higher education reached 32,000 in the 2020/2021 academic year, doubling from 15,000 a decade earlier, state news wire MTI reports, citing data compiled by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Foreigners' share among full-time college and university students rose to 17% from 6.9% during the period.

Just under one-third of foreign students were enrolled in healthcare programs in the 2020/2021 academic year.

There were close to 2,800 foreigners studying in doctoral programs, accounting for almost one-third of all full-time students working toward their PhDs at Hungarian universities.
