Farmgate prices climb 7.4% in 2020

Farmgate prices rose 7.4% in 2020, outpacing the 0.9% increase in input prices, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said.
Farmgate prices of crops climbed 11.1%, while prices of live animals and animal products edged up 1.2%.
Grain prices increased 8.6% and oilseed prices rose 16.9%. Vegetable prices were up 4.2% and fruit prices jumped 31.5%.
Among input prices, the price of seeds increased 1.5%, the price of artificial fertilizer dropped 7.9% and the price of pesticides rose 1%. Energy prices dropped 5.2%, feed prices rose 2.1% and veterinary prices increased 6.2%.
