Farm gate prices increase 9.4% yr/yr in Q1-Q3

Agricultural producer prices in Hungary rose 9.4% year-on-year in January-September, with crop prices increasing 16.1% and livestock and animal product prices increasing 3.5%, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Monday.
In September alone, farm gate prices rose 13.5% year-on-year, with crop prices rising 17.4% and livestock and animal product prices up 9.9%. Average farm gate prices of cereals rose 23% in the year to September 2006 and was up 16.2% year-on-year in January-September, albeit from a low base.
Prices of vegetables in September increased 14.2% year-on-year and were up 17.6% year-on-year in January-September. Fruit prices were 26.0% higher in September than a year earlier and rose 17.4% in January-September from the same period of 2005.
Farm gate prices of live animals increased 12.3% year-on-year in September and these prices were up 4.4% in the first nine months from a year earlier. The price of live cattle rose 5.5% in September and rose 14.8% in a nine months comparison, hog prices rose 18.3% (6.4% year-on-year in January-September), while prices of poultry rose 5.3% year-on-year September and were down 1.4% in the first nine months.
Prices of animal products rose 5.6% in September, with the farm gate price of milk rising 2.3% and egg prices rising 16.9% year-on-year. January-September animal product prices were up 1.9% from a year earlier, with milk prices down 1.2% and egg prices up 9.9%.
