Czech Inflation Falls Further in September

Figures

The annual inflation rate in the Czech Republic slowed for the eighth consecutive month to 6.9% in September from an 8.5% rise in August, largely driven by the slowdown in fuel and food price growth, data from the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO) showed on Tuesday.

Prices moderated in most of the sub-indices, remarkably in food & non-alcoholic beverages (6% vs 7.9%), housing & utilities (8.9% vs 12.7%), recreation & culture (8.7% vs 9.8%), and miscellaneous goods & services (6.9% vs 8.3%). At the same time, transport costs (0.2% vs -1.7%) recovered.

Meanwhile, prices increased at a faster pace for clothing & footwear (9.2% vs 9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices tumbled 0.7% in September, following a 0.2% increase in the previous month.
