Croatia Inflation Rate Rises in August

Croatia's consumer prices rose by 7.8% year-on-year in August, following a 7.3% annual increase in July, matching preliminary estimates, data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (Crostat) on Friday show.

It was the highest inflation rate since May, as prices rebounded for transport (3.3% vs -3.7% in July), while increased at a faster pace for communication (3.5% vs 2.8%), and recreation & culture (7.7% vs 7.5%).

Meanwhile, prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (11% vs 12.6%), clothing & footwear (9.9% vs 11.3%), housing & utilities (6.2% vs 6.4%), furnishings, household equipment & routine household maintenance (7.5% vs 9.3%), health (6.6% vs 7.1%), restaurants & hotels (14.2% vs 14.6%), and miscellaneous goods & services (9.4% vs 10%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.5% in August, accelerating from 0.2% rise in the previous month.
