Bulgaria's Household Spending up 19.1% in 2022

The average household expenditure per capita in Bulgaria went up by 19.1% on the year in 2022, whereas the average income per household member increased by 16.9%, the statistics agency said on Tuesday.
Expenditure per household member amounted to an average of BGN 8,389 (EUR 4,289) last year, while individual income averaged BGN 9,008, it said in an annual report.
The relative share of income from wages and salaries in the review period fell to 53.9% from 56.8% a year earlier, although it remained the largest contributor.
Income from wages and salaries rose by an annual 10.8% in 2022.
Pensions formed 33.7% of total income, increasing their share by 3.7 percentage points (pp) from 2021, while self-employment accounted for 4.7%, down by 0.5 pp on the year.
