Bank card fraud increased in Q4 2020

The number and value of instances of bank card fraud increased significantly in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to cash flow statistics released by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) on its website.
In the last three months of 2020, issuers registered HUF 368.7 million of lost value, which was 30.7% higher than a year earlier.
Meanwhile, the number of affected transactions increased by 28.4% to 19,400.
The biggest portion of card misuse continues to come from fraud involving online transactions.
