Avg hourly rate for blue-collar workers climbs 10% in Q1
The average gross hourly pay rate for skilled and unskilled blue-collar workers in Hungary climbed 10.4% to HUF 1,499 in the first quarter from the same period a year earlier, state news wire MTI reports, citing an analysis by staffing company Trenkwalder.
The hourly pay rate was under HUF 1,400 only in the southwest of the country. However remuneration there climbed 16%, suggesting a regional convergence.
Hourly pay in the Central Transdanubia region averaged HUF 1,600, and it was as high as HUF 1,900 in the capital and the Central Hungary region.
Trenkwader acknowledged the impact of an over 19% increase in the minimum wage from the start of 2022 on wages overall.
The gross hourly statutory minimum wage in Hungary is HUF 1,495 for skilled laborers and HUF 1,150 for unskilled workers, effective January 1.
