The average monthly wage in the Czech Republic rose by 11.3% year-on-year to CZK 38,275 (some EUR 1,509) in the second quarter of 2021, data released by the Czech Statistics Office (CZSO) show.
In gross terms, employees received an average of CZK 3,893 (EUR 153) more than a year ago. Including growth in consumer prices, earnings rose by 8.2% in real terms.
According to the Prague-based agency, the median wage, the average value of wages, increased by 11.5% year-on-year to CZK 32,408 (EUR 1,277) in the second quarter. It reached CZK 34,461 for men and CZK 30,026 for women.
The median represents the value of the employee's wage in the middle of the wage values, so half of the wage values are lower than the median and the other half higher.
