Average Gross Earnings at HUF 645,300 in April 2024

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings in Hungary were HUF 645,300 in April 2024, according to data published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Regular average gross earnings were estimated at HUF 596,200, being 13.9% higher than in the same period of the previous year. Regular average gross earnings amounted to HUF 592,500 in the business sector, HUF 600,600 in the budgetary sector, and HUF 620,700 in the non-profit sector, rising by 11.7%, 20.7%, and 17.7%, respectively, over a year.

Average net earnings reached HUF 429,100, excluding tax benefits and HUF 444,000, including them, being 13.5% and 13.4% higher than in April 2023.

Real earnings were up by 9.5%, along with a 3.7% increase in consumer prices compared to the same period of the previous year.

Median gross earnings were HUF 516,000, being 16.6% above the level a year earlier.

Median net earnings including tax benefits reached HUF 357,900, surpassing the value for the same period of the previous year by 16.7%.

January-April Average Gross Earnings at HUF 628,600

Full-time employees’ average gross earnings amounted to HUF 628,600.

Average net earnings were HUF 418,000, excluding tax benefits, and HUF 432,600, including tax benefits.

Average gross earnings and average net earnings excluding tax benefits increased by 14.0% and net earnings including tax benefits rose by 13.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
