Analysts put September CPI at 3.8%

Figures

Analysts polled by business daily Napi Gazdaság estimate consumer prices rose 3.8% year-on-year in September, accelerating from 3.6% in August.

The analysts put month-on-month CPI at 1% in September, following a decline of about the same size in August.

The Central Statistics Office (KSH) will publish September inflation data on Tuesday.

Although consumer prices rose on average 3.9% yr/yr in January-August, the analysts projected average annual inflation of 4.6% for 2011, because of recent excise tax rises. The excise duty rise may appear in fuel prices already in November and could gradually push up the price of cigarettes and alcohol too, the analysts said. Weak demand could limit the pass-through of the increases, they added.
