Albania's annual EU harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) rose by 2.6% in September, after advancing by 2.7% in August, the Tirana-based Institute of Statistics (Instat) said on Thursday.

The strongest upward push came from a 4.7% rise of food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by communication with a 2.7% rise.

On a monthly comparison basis, HICP increased 0.5% in September, after edging up 0.2% in August.

Albania's non-harmonized consumer price inflation accelerated to 2.5% year-on-year in September, from 2.4% in August, Instat announced earlier this month.
