5,481 new coronavirus cases registered in Hungary

The number of active coronavirus cases in Hungary stands at 189,244, with 5,481 new cases and 252 new deaths registered since yesterday, according to data by government coronavirus information site koronavirus.gov.hu.

The death toll stands at 18,703.

The total number of confirmed cases stands at 586,123 up from 580,642 yesterday.

The number of recoveries has risen to 378,176.

Currently, 11,873 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 1,389 of whom are on ventilators.

So far 4,334,584 tests have been conducted at accredited laboratories. Some 50,096 people are currently in compulsory home quarantine.

Looking at all diagnosed cases until now, Budapest remains the most affected area of the entire country, with the number of cases (both active and inactive) reaching 111,391. Pest County is the second most affected, with 81,285 cases, followed by Győr-Moson-Sopron County (33,770 cases).

The number of curfew violations registered by authorities throughout the country so far has reached 53,753.

Until now, 1,636,436 people have been vaccinated, and 481,820 of them have already received the second dose as well.
