5,077 new coronavirus cases registered in Hungary

The number of active coronavirus cases in Hungary stands at 272,459, with 5,077 new cases and 291 new deaths registered since yesterday, according to data by government coronavirus information site koronavirus.gov.hu.

The death toll has increased to 23,708.

The total number of confirmed cases stands at 725,241 up from 720,164 yesterday.

The number of recoveries has risen to 429,074.

Currently, 10,740 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 1,249 of whom are on ventilators.

Looking at all diagnosed cases until now, Budapest remains the most affected area of the entire country, with the number of cases (both active and inactive) reaching 133,306. Pest County is the second most affected, with 101,229 cases, followed by Győr-Moson-Sopron County (40,657 cases).

So far 4,961,146 tests have been conducted at accredited laboratories. Some 43,002 people are currently in compulsory home quarantine. 

According to the website, a total of 2,900,383 people have been vaccinated until today. The number of those who have received a second dose as well has increased to 1,217,258.
