4,604 new coronavirus cases registered in Hungary

The number of active coronavirus cases in Hungary stands at 271,032, with 4,604 new cases and 217 new deaths registered since yesterday, according to data by government coronavirus information site koronavirus.gov.hu.

The death toll has increased to 24,979.

The total number of confirmed cases stands at 746,802 up from 742,198 yesterday.

The number of recoveries has risen to 450,791.

Currently, 9,459 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 1,117 of whom are on ventilators.

Looking at all diagnosed cases until now, Budapest remains the most affected area of the entire country, with the number of cases (both active and inactive) reaching 136,273. Pest County is the second most affected, with 104,151 cases, followed by Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County (41,838 cases).

So far 5,096,421 tests have been conducted at accredited laboratories. Some 51,049 people are currently in compulsory home quarantine. 

According to the website, a total of 3,213,837 people have been vaccinated until today. The number of those who have received a second dose as well has increased to 1,371,702.

The number of curfew violations registered by authorities throughout the country so far has reached 63,694.
