202,600 foreign nationals residing legally in Hungary

There were 202,600 foreign nationals residing legally in Hungary for the long term at the start of 2022, accounting for 2.1% of the country's population, according to data compiled by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Close to two-thirds of those foreign nationals were from other countries in Europe: 15% were from Ukraine, 10% from Germany, 8% from Romania and 8% from Slovakia.

Around 27% were from Asia, mainly China and Vietnam, while 4% were from Africa and 4% from the Americas.

About 44% of the foreign nationals with long-term residence in Hungary live in the capital.

Nearly half of the foreign nationals are between the ages of 20 and 39.
