1,645 new coronavirus cases registered in Hungary

The number of active coronavirus cases in Hungary stands at 268,072, with 1,645 new cases and 199 new deaths registered since yesterday, according to data by government coronavirus information site koronavirus.gov.hu.

The death toll has increased to 25,580.

The total number of confirmed cases stands at 754,833 up from 753,188 yesterday.

The number of recoveries has risen to 461,181.

Currently, 8,602 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 980 of whom are on ventilators.

Looking at all diagnosed cases until now, Budapest remains the most affected area of the entire country, with the number of cases (both active and inactive) reaching 137,261. Pest County is the second most affected, with 105,107 cases, followed by Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County (42,303 cases).

So far 5,157,082 tests have been conducted at accredited laboratories. Some 43,841 people are currently in compulsory home quarantine. 

According to the website, a total of 3,317,052 people have been vaccinated until today. The number of those who have received a second dose as well has increased to 1,400,703.

The number of curfew violations registered by authorities throughout the country so far has reached 64,606.
