Young people start career demanding higher wages

The wage demands of young people starting their careers are slightly above the real data, at an average of HUF 248,800, according to a survey conducted by the Zyntern.com job portal.

Central Statistical Office (KSH) data from 2021 shows that the average net salary in Hungary under the age of 20 is HUF 165,613, while the net average wage for the 20-29 age group is HUF 240,227.

The highest average salary demands were determined by students in the fields of medicine (HUF 299,000), technical/engineering (HUF 278,900), and IT (HUF 270,800).

In contrast, the lowest wage demands were among young people studying and working in vocational training (HUF 219,000), pedagogy (HUF 212,000), the arts (HUF 221,000), and humanities (HUF 222,000).

The questionnaire was completed by more than 4,000 young people from 13 disciplines.
