Tesco fined Ft 100 mln for misleading customers
Tesco-Global Stores Zrt, the Hungarian unit of Tesco Plc, was fined Ft 100 million for misleading customers about certain items, the Competition Office (GVH) said.
The company published false information about items like digital cameras, appliances and toys regarding pricing, supplies and pictures featured in advertisements, the GVH said in a statement today.
Tesco, which has been opening stores outside the U.K. since 1993, is the leading hypermarket operator in Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
Hungary's competition office has ruled against Tesco's local unit nine times, which it took into consideration when setting the amount of the fine, it said.
