System of compensating welfare assistance-providers revamped

Analysis

The government has resolved to revamp the system under which it compensates private providers of welfare, child welfare and child protection services as of 2007, with the goal of guaranteeing equal access to these services all over the country, the government spokesperson announced in Budapest on Thursday.

Emese Danks said that the criteria for granting per capita government assistance to providers of these services will include universal accessibility and professional and economic efficiency. Where there are too few eligible recipients to make the whole range of services available, she said, the government will support the higher quality ones. The welfare minister will have the final say on the services that will be supported, but will base his decision on a committee proposal, Danks said. Representatives of welfare and child welfare services will be on that committee, she added. (english.mti.hu)
