Swiss Companies Expanding in Hungary

Analysis

Swiss companies are constantly expanding their business activities in Hungary, and some very significant projects are also being prepared, Jean-Francois Paroz, the Swiss ambassador in Budapest, told business daily Világgazdaság.

Paroz explained that Switzerland and Hungary would soon launch a second bilateral cooperation program under Switzerland's contribution to European cohesion.

"This will offer quite a few opportunities for cooperation and we hope to develop long-term partnerships between the project participants," said the diplomat.

Since the 1990s, Switzerland has become one of Hungary's most important economic partners.

With private investments of more than EUR 4.5 billion by local companies, the Alpine state became the fifth largest investing country in Hungary in 2020.
