Slovakia C/A Gap Hits Record High

Slovakia's current account deficit widened to EUR 1,700.8 million in December, the largest on record, and more than doubling from the EUR 778 million gap in the same month a year ago, the central bank said in its report.
The goods account deficit increased sharply to EUR 1,427.8 million from EUR 355.7 million in the previous year, while the services account surplus went up to EUR 32 million from EUR 16.4 million.
In addition, the primary income deficit narrowed to EUR 219.9 million from EUR 418 million a year earlier, while the secondary income deficit rose to EUR 85.2 million from EUR 20.7 million.
For full 2022, the country's current account shortfall widened to EUR 8,718.5 million from EUR 2,465.1 million in 2021.
