President Katalin Novák met with Tesla founder and head Elon Musk at the company's recently inaugurated plant in Austin, Texas, on Monday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

In a post on Facebook, Novák noted that Musk had not been able to attend the Budapest Demographic Summit, organized earlier in September to address the challenges of depopulation, and was "making up" for that meeting.

Musk has warned that population collapse due to low birth rates is "a much bigger risk to civilization than global warming".

During the meeting, he also published a post on his social media page summarising the meeting by saying that "having children will save the world".

According to the Sándor Palace, the discussion also included the war in Ukraine, on which Elon Musk and Katalin Novák agreed on the need for a ceasefire and a lasting peace as soon as possible. Novák informed the owner of social media X about the situation of Hungarians in Transcarpathia and expressed her pleasure that Musk supported the respect of the rights of national minorities.
