Analysis

The proportion of regular internet users who have made online purchases in the last twelve months climbed to 61% from 48% a year earlier, a survey by market research company KutatóCentrum shows.

About 61% of online purchases did not exceed HUF 10,000 on the last purchase. Just 7% were more than HUF 40,000.

About 41% of Hungarians who made internet purchases spent a total of HUF 10,000-40,000 online over the past year. Just 15% spent more than a total of HUF 100,000.

Hungarians used bank cards to pay for less than one-third of online purchases, KutatóCentrum said. Most pay with cash or postal check.
