New road toll system may cost BKK billions

The recently introduced road toll system could cost the Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) HUF 5-10 bln, according to calculations made by Hungarian online daily Index.
Although BKK admitted that the new system would result in extra expenditures for the company, it failed to give exact figures following Index’s query. BKK added, that the exact amount of extra costs could only by calculated by the end of the year.
It was reported in December that every highway and motorway in Hungary would become a toll road as of January 2015, requiring county stickers and an additional fee.
