Microsoft says to buy Greenfield for $486 mln

Microsoft said on Friday it had agreed to buy Web-based online survey company Greenfield Online Inc for $17.50 a share, valuing the deal at $486 million.
In June Greenfield said it would be bought by media-focused US buyout firm Quadrangle Group for $15.50 a share. Greenfield set Quadrangle a Aug. 29 deadline to trump the $17.50 offer, failing which Greenfield would be entitled to end the deal. (Reuters)
