METRANS to build base in Budapest

Rail cargo company METRANS Danubia, announced plans to build a logistics base in south Budapest for "several tens of millions of euros", Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said Thursday, according to news agency MTI.
Klaus-Dieter Peters, chairman of Germanyʼs Hamburger Hafen und Logistik, METRANSʼ parent company, said the decision to build a container terminal in Hungary was based on the country being an important hub.
He added that more investments are planned for the future. Construction of the base will begin by September at the latest, he said, with the initial phase of the investment expected to create 200 jobs.
