Mercedes-Benz Hungary unit turnover falls to EUR 3.1 bln in 2021
Revenue of German carmaker Mercedes-Benz's local unit fell to EUR 3.1 billion in 2021 from EUR 3.4 bln in 2020, Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary's profit climbed to EUR 68 million from EUR 39 mln during the period.
The unit's plant in Kecskemét turned out over 135,000 cars last year, around 25,000 fewer than in 2020, but the model mix, with more EQB, plug-in hybrid, and AMG models, boosted margins.
The plant had a number of temporary shutdowns in 2021 because of the global semiconductor shortage.
More than 4,500 people work for Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary.
