Majority of Swedes remain opposed to euro
The majority of Swedish people would vote „no” on whether to join the euro zone if a new referendum took place in Sweden today, a survey published in Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet showed on Sunday.
Some 52% of those surveyed said they would like to see Sweden remain outside the euro zone, while 39% recommended adopting the common currency, according to the survey made by the Swedish Institute of Public Opinion Research (SIFO). While Denmark is planning a new referendum over whether to join the euro zone, the general feeling towards the euro in Sweden has not change much since the last referendum in 2003, when 56% of Swedes said no, while 42% voted in favor of the new currency, the survey showed. The poll results were based on a representative sample of 973 potential voters questioned in the period from November 26th to 29th. (people.com.cn)
