Illegal German waste dumped in Hungary

German rubbish trucks have been coming over to Hungary and illegally dumping waste in Bács-Kiskun County (central Hungary), national daily Népszabadság said on Wednesday.
Huge amounts of compacted waste have been found at remote farmhouses and at abandoned properties, said the paper. Last week, officials of the municipality of Kiskunmajsa interrupted workers at a former Soviet army barracks loading some 150-200 tons of household waste off an Austrian truck associated with a German company.
Eight to ten more truckloads of garbage was also found at the site. Népszabadság’s Berlin correspondent contacted a representative of Leutkircher Wertstoffhof GmbH, who denied having dispatched any rubbish to Hungary. The police are investigating the case. (english.mti-hu)
