Hungary's Caesarean dilemma

There are concerns in Hungary that many women are being made to have Caesarean births unnecessarily.

Hungarian experts say, that having around 30% of babies born Caeserean, is just a normal average. European colleagues consider this number too high, and unnecessary. For a quite long period, Hungarian mothers asked their doctors to have them deliver their babies this way, but when this habit became popular, some of the obstetrists started to refuse these requests. Giving birth to a baby this way or an other is not a matter of choice to make it "easier" for the mother, but an emergency operation in order to save the newborn's life. It should not be made upon request. Everyone should deliver their babies in the natural "conventional" way, and only in case of an emergency should they choose Caesarean. (BBC News Video)
