Hungary Household Expenditures on Consumption Climb 8%

Analysis

Per capita expenditures of households on consumption rose 8% to HUF 1,483,00 last year, a summary of data published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) shows.

Spending on food and soft drinks accounted for 26.4% of the total, while spending on housing and household energy made up 17.8%.

Transportation costs accounted for 11% and spending on other products and services for 8.4%.

Telecommunications spending made up 6.9% of the total.

Spending on culture and entertainment made up 6.3%, spending on healthcare 5.5% and spending on home furnishings 4.6%.

Spending on catering and commercial accommodations made up 4.1%, level with the spending ratio for clothing and footwear. The data show 4% of spending was for spirits and tobacco products and 0.8% was for education.

Households' net income averaged HUF 1,920,000 per capita last year, up 9%.
